Streusel Topping (Blueberry Buckle)

A streusel forked into its own recipe per the archive's rule that accompanying components (glazes, marinades, rubs, sauces, etc.) are kept as standalone recipes. It also remains inline in Best Blueberry Buckle, where it is originally used.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) light brown sugar
  • 1 pinch table salt
  • 4 tablespoons (60 ml) unsalted butter, cut into 8 pieces, softened but still cool (1/2 stick (225 g))

Method

  1. In standing mixer fitted with flat beater, combine flour, sugars, and salt on low speed until well combined and no large brown sugar lumps remain, about 45 seconds.
  2. Add butter and mix on low until mixture resembles wet sand and no large butter pieces remain, about 2 1/2 minutes.
  3. Transfer streusel to small bowl and set aside.
