Tomato Sauce (Pecan Meatballs)
A tomato sauce forked into its own recipe per the archive's rule that accompanying components (glazes, marinades, rubs, sauces, etc.) are kept as standalone recipes. It also remains inline in PECAN MEATBALLS, where it is originally used.
Ingredients
- 1 medium yellow onion (minced)
- 1 clove garlic (minced)
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) olive oil
- 1 can crushed tomatoes (28 ounces)
- kosher salt and black pepper
- 1 bunch fresh basil (torn)
Method
- For the tomato sauce: in a medium Dutch oven over medium-high heat, add the olive oil, onions, and garlic. Cook until soft and translucent, about 3 minutes.
- Add the crushed tomatoes and season with salt and pepper.
- Simmer for 15-20 minutes.
