Sweet and Tangy BBQ Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (240 ml) ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) Dijon mustard
  • 3 tablespoons (45 ml) molasses
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) maple syrup
  • 3 tablespoons (45 ml) vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) cayenne pepper

Method

  1. Whisk the ketchup, Worcestershire, mustard, molasses, maple syrup, vinegar, chili powder, and cayenne in a small saucepan.
  2. Bake the chicken with your favorite dry rub, 350°F (175°C) for an hour.
  3. Simmer the sauce over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the sauce is thick and glossy, about 5 minutes.
  4. Spoon half the sauce over the cooked chicken.
  5. Set the oven to broil and continue to cook 5 to 10 minutes longer.
  6. Transfer the chicken to a platter and let rest for 5 minutes.
  7. Serve the chicken, passing extra sauce separately.
